FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The High Point University men’s golf team wrapped up its weekend at the stacked Mason Rudolph Championship on Sunday with a final round 314.

For the second straight round, sophomore Alec Weary led the way shooting a +4 (75) featuring at team-best four birdies on the day. The team’s 314 put the Panthers in 14th for the event (316-310-314, 940) as they get set to play in the Big South Championship next weekend in Ninety Six, S.C.

“It’s tough finishing the regular season on that note, but we just have to look beyond that and focus on the total body of work this group has put together this season and the positives definitely outweigh the negatives,” head coach Brady Gregor said. “This team knows and believes that, at its best, we have the talent to go compete and make a run at a conference championship next weekend. It’s just a matter of putting together all the pieces.

Weary’s final-round 75 allowed him to be HPU’s top finisher in the event tying for 57th (81-73-75, 229). In his last two events Weary has built momentum heading into the Big South Championships.

“I’m feeling much more confident in my swing as well as my scoring ability and am excited to see what we can do at conference,” Weary said. “The Patriot is a magical course that we all love.”

Following Weary, sophomore Brendan MacDougall carded a 77 on the final day to tie for 64th in the loaded field (76-78-77, 231). Despite finishing behind Weary, MacDougal continued to be the Panthers’ most consistent presence tallying a team-high 25 pars.

The lineup’s veterans, junior Davis Kiger and senior Emile Menard both posted 81s on the final day at the Vanderbilt Legends Course. Meanwhile, sophomore RJ Bartolomucci rounded out the tournament with an 83.

Vanderbilt won the team title by three strokes over Alabama.
