HIGH POINT, N.C. — The No. 20 High Point University women’s lacrosse team scored the first 12 and the last nine goals on the way to a 22-3 win over Gardner-Webb on Senior Day Saturday afternoon (April 14) at Vert Stadium.

The Panthers (12-2, 5-0 Big South), who won their 11th game in a row, had nine goals scorers, including five seniors. The 22 goals scored are tied for third-most in HPU single-game history.

“We were excited to have another conference win here at home on Senior Day,” HPU head coach Lyndsey Boswell. “We’re really proud of this group of eight girls who has set the tone for their four years and really led the way for our team this year. We wanted to get all of our seniors on the field and have a presence. It was good to see Haley (Roberts) and Hannah (Quigley) get their goals and we had a lot of selfless play from other players to put our seniors in the spotlight.”

Senior Brooke Stevens tied her career high with 10 points on three goals and seven assists. Her seven assists are tied for the second-most in HPU single-game history. Stevens now has 38 assists this season, which is tied for second in Panther single-season history.

Fellow seniors Erica Perrotta and Haley Roberts each recorded hat tricks. It was Roberts’ first career hat trick and her four points was also a career high. Senior Hannah Quigley registered a pair of goals after coming in to the game with one career goal, while fellow senior Erin Ilchuk also added a goal. Senior defenders Casey Kotchenreuter and Olivia Nostrant each had two caused turnovers at the other end of the field.

Freshman Abby Hormes scored five goals, her ninth game this season with three or more goals. Fellow freshman Kaely Kyle tallied her first career hat trick.

The Panthers out-shot Gardner-Webb (2-13, 0-5), 36-19, and led in draw controls, 18-9, and ground balls, 23-16.

Up next, High Point travels to Rock Hill, S.C., on Wednesday (April 18) to take on Winthrop at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
