Geraniotis Breaks Elon School-Record on Final Day at Duke Track & Field Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – Junior Coralea Geraniotis broke her own school-record in the 5,000-meters to close out the Elon University women’s track and field team’s stay at the Duke Invitational on Saturday, April 21, at the Morris Williams Track and Field Stadium.

FINAL RESULTS

Geraniotis broke her school-record in the 5,000-meters for the second time this season as the Orleans, Mass., native clocked a time of 16:19.47 – a 10-second personal-record over her previous best. She would finish third overall in the event. Senior Brigid Brennan also set a new personal-record in the race with a 17:22.83 – 21 seconds faster than her previous personal-best as she was 15th overall.

Melissa Anastasakis and Natacha Savioz broke into the program’s top-five of the outdoor 800-meters with a couple of new personal-records. Anastasakis ran a time of 2:11.24 – now the second-best time in school history – and finished 18th overall. Savioz was right behind her at 19th overall with her time of 2:11.53 – the third-best time on the program’s performance list.

Bryanna Hames was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 48′ 10.75″ (14.90m). Teammate Bre’anna Warren was sixth overall with a toss of 47′ 11.25″ (14.61m). Skylar Barthelmes also earned a top-10 standing in the javelin throw with a heave of 129′ 9″ (39.55m).

For the second straight week, Meagan Henderson set a new personal-record in the 400-meter hurdles as the junior clocked a time of 1:03.24. She finished 12th overall in the race. Elon’s 4×400-meter relay team ran a season-best time of 3:47.10 to finish fifth overall.

Elon is scheduled to compete at the UVA Grand Prix meet next Saturday, April 28, in Charlottesville, Va., for its final meet of the regular season.
