High Point Atlantic League Team Officially Unveils Multi-Use Stadium Name

High Point, NC – On Wednesday, April 11th in front of over one thousand enthusiastic fans officials from the High Point Baseball Club, the City of High Point and BB&T announced that the name of the new multi-use stadium would be BB&T Point. The facility is currently under construction at the corner of North Elm Street and Gatewood Avenue in downtown High Point with the grand opening slated for May of 2019 when the Atlantic League season commences. The $36.1M ballpark will feature over 4,000 seats including suites, loge boxes and a first base club. In addition, fan amenities and attractions will be spaced out all around the 360-degree concourse.

“A crowd of that size was exciting to the eyes,” rhymed Ken Lehner, High Point Baseball Club President. “The number of fans who turned out for the BB&T Point ground breaking tells us that professional baseball is going to be a smashing success in High Point! We are digging in to build the foundation of your High Point Baseball Club leading up to our historic inaugural game and season. ”

Numerous local businessmen and officials were on hand and addressed the crowd including High Point Mayor Jay Wagner; High Point University President Dr. Nido Qubein; BB&T executives Cantey Alexander and Leah Penry Price; Chairman of the Board for High Point Baseball Coy O. Williard, Jr. and Atlantic League Founder Frank Boulton.

“BB&T is committed to the High Point area and demonstrates this by supporting many local projects and organizations,” said Leah Price, BB&T High Point Market President. “Our recent investment into the new stadium, through naming rights, fits with BB&T’s mission part of which is ‘to make the world a better place to live by making our communities in which we work better places to be.’ We believe in giving back and strengthening our communities so we are proud to support the new stadium efforts.”

Big Bullet Sports Marketing (BBSM) and BB&T’s internal Enterprise Marketing, Sales & Experience Group collaboratively developed the BB&T Point logo.

“We were thrilled to be chosen to develop the identity, logo and marks for this amazing stadium and thank BB&T for their ongoing commitment to the communities they serve,” said Howard Sadel, BBSM President. “Collaborating with BB&T’s internal marketing team insured both the bank and the team came away with a terrific brand extension and clean contemporary identification for many years to come.”

With the construction now well underway and the entitlement partner in place, the next step is to name the team. To ensure the fans are a huge part of this process and that the team uncovers all the great team name possibilities, a Name The Team Contest will launch in the coming days.
