College Women’s Tennis Final – Bridgewater 9, Guilford 0

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Bridgewater College claimed a 9-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women’s tennis win over visiting Guilford College Sunday afternoon at Mapp Courts.

The Eagles improved to 11-7 (7-4 ODAC) with the win. Guilford falls to 1-11 (0-8 ODAC).

Bridgewater’s three doubles teams dropped just one game. Nichole Shifflett and Stephanie Barton won the second-doubles contest, 8-0, over the Quakers’ Natalie Whitmeyer and Olivia La Ganza. Ashley Price and Rachel Zarin downed Guilford’s Katherine Kane and Megan Kimpel by the same score at third doubles. The top tandem of Jamiah Lewis and Whitney Kiser cruised to an 8-1 win over the Quakers’ Brooklyn Hopkins and Makayla McLaurin.

The Eagles claimed all six singles contests, two by 6-0, 6-0 counts. Lewis stopped McLaurin at first singles, 6-2, 6-0.

Coach Dave McCain’s Quakers visit league-rival Randolph-Macon College Wednesday (4/25) at 4:00 p.m. in a match rescheduled twice from March.
