College Softball Final: Emory & Henry 4, Guilford 0

SALEM, Va. — Cameron Derr and Tiffany Cole teamed to shut out Guilford College as Emory & Henry College defeated the Quakers, 4-0, on Friday night in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball
Tournament game.

Derr tossed the final 3 2/3 innings and improved to 10-4 after earning the win. She allowed just two hits and struck out three Quakers.

E&H plated single runs in the first and third frames before scoring twice in the fourth inning. Lindsay Boyd hit a two-run homer in fourth for the Wasps.

Katie McNeill (3-4) worked the first 3 2/3 innings and allowed all four Wasp runs. Abigayle Rowell logged the final 2 1/3 innings and allowed just one hit.

Guilford had six hits in the contest but left eight runners on base. Katy Holt had a double for GC’s lone extra-base hit.

The Waps collected seven hits. Caitlin Yates went 2-3 with a double for Emory & Henry.

The Quakers (18-23) meet Eastern Mennonite University in an elimination game on Saturday at the Moyer Sports Complex. First pitch is at 11 a.m.

The Wasps (30-12) face Lynchburg in a winner’s bracket game at 2 p.m.
