College Women’s Tennis Final – Randolph-Macon 8, Guilford 1

ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon College clinched the second seed for the upcoming Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament with an 8-1 win over visiting Guilford College Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets (11-3, 9-1 ODAC) won their seventh straight match. Guilford’s season ends with a 1-14 record (0-11 ODAC).

The hosts yielded just one game in sweeping the three doubles matches. Gaby Tersigni and Kristin Dantzler downed Guilford’s Makayla McLaurin and Brooklyn Hopkins, 8-1, at first doubles. Stephanie Yeager and Olivia Uzer downed the Quakers’ Olivia La Ganza and Natalie Whitmeyer, 8-0, at second doubles. Sarah Hinson and Landon Aud stopped Guilford’s Megan Kimpel and Katherine Kane by the same score.

Randolph-Macon claimed three singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 counts and another by a 6-1, 6-0 margin. Uzer and Hinson were two-time winners for Guilford.

The Quakers scored their point at first singles where senior Makayla McLaurin outlasted Tersigni, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (12-10) in her final college contest.
