Elon’s Lukes Earns All-CAA Men’s Golf Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University men’s golfer Quade Lukes was rewarded for his outstanding freshman season with an All-CAA First Team selection, the Colonial Athletic Association announced on Tuesday, May 1.

A native of nearby Chapel Hill, N.C., Lukes earns his first All-CAA selection after posting a team-best 72.10 stroke average over 21 rounds of action, which is the lowest scoring average for a single season in the program’s Division I era. His stroke average was the lowest among CAA freshmen and tied for the second-lowest total in the league this year.

Additionally, Lukes’ score versus par total of 0.81 ranks second in the program’s single-season record books. Lukes, who had his season cut short due to an injury, earned two Top 5 and five Top 15 finishes while only placing outside of the Top 20 once in the seven tournaments he competed in during the 2017-18 campaign. He was an important part of the team’s lineup as a freshman, as 17 of his 18 rounds counted toward the team’s score overall score.

Lukes got his career off to a fine start by earning his first career Top 3 finish in his first collegiate tournament at the Patriot Intercollegiate. Lukes finished tied for third with a one-under 215 (72-69-74). He carded his second Top 5 finish of the season at the Battle at Stono Ferry, hosted by College of Charleston, where he finished in fifth with an eight-under 208 (73-67-68). The tournament included a season-low round of 67, followed by a 68 on the final day, his second-best round of the year.

Additionally, Lukes earned Top 20 finishes at the the Hummingbird Intercollegiate, the Camden Collegiate Invitational, the UNCG/Martin Downs Collegiate and the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. He also finished as the sixth-ranked golfer in the CAA, according to GolfStat.com.
