Update to Lacrosse Community

Letter of Clarification with regard to the email letter dated April 12, 2018:

It has come to our attention that our letter of April 12, 2018, announcing upcoming changes to the structure of the Triad High School Lacrosse All-Star game (the “All-Star game”) inadvertently omitted facts about the major contributions of the ONS Lacrosse Foundation over the years. The ONS Lacrosse Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and was the predominant force in the creation of the All-Star game. Accordingly, we thought it appropriate to issue this letter clarifying our prior correspondence to you out of respect for our long-standing partner, the ONS Lacrosse Foundation (the “ONS Foundation”).

The first All-Star Game was played in 2012 at UNC-G, after many months of planning by a volunteer committee organized by the ONS Foundation. In 2014 a Girl’s All-Star Game was added to the schedule. In addition to monetary support, the ONS Foundation has been involved in the administrative planning, game day operations and charitable solicitations from vendors since the inception of the All-Star game. The ONS Foundation has made monetary contributions to the All-Star games every year and, as of 2017, those monetary contributions total approximately $5,000.00. In addition, we have utilized the ONS Foundation’s 501(c)(3) status to successfully solicit third-party vendors to help make the games possible. As we transition to a new administrative structure in 2019, the ONS Foundation has continued to be a valued and critical partner by covering the cost of the monthly website fees, the cost of renting the 2018 venue (Grimsley High School), and the cost of insurance required by Guilford County Schools through the funds generated by past All Star games. Additionally, since the new entity is not yet approved for 501(c)(3) status, the ONS Foundation continues to be the sole non-profit entity through which Dick’s Sporting Goods, Champion, and other third-party vendors are able to provide charitable monetary and in-kind contributions to make the 2018 All-Star games possible.

Through more than seven years of experience, the ONS Foundation and the Triad All Star Game made it a focal point to invite all schools, clubs and organizations in the Triad Lacrosse Community to participate in the All-Star games. Every public and private school with an active lacrosse program has been asked to nominate players, and all clubs and organizations have been invited to advertise in the Triad High School Lacrosse Game program. This focus on inclusion and growth is the guiding star for the new entity that will assume full responsibility for future All-Star games beginning in 2019. As we transition to the new structure of the All-Star game in 2019, we are grateful for the continued support of the ONS Foundation. and welcome it as a GOLD SPONSOR for the 2018 All-Star games.

We are excited about the growth and development of lacrosse in the Triad community, and we hope you will continue to support the Triad High School All-Star Game and the high school seniors selected to participate.

Very truly yours,
