How It Happened: Towson jumped out to a 2-0 lead, scoring single runs in each of the first two innings before Elon erupted for six in the last of the second. With one out, Ty Adcock followed a walk to Matt Oldhamwith a double to left-center to drive in the first Phoenix run of the day. A throwing error on the play allowed Adcock to end up at third. He then scored on a wild pitch to tie it at two. With runners on first and second, Cam Devanney lined a single to center to drive home Tyler Stanley to give the maroon and gold a 3-2 advantage. Ryne Ogren walked to load the bases before Satterfield picked up an RBI on a fielder’s choice that left runners on the corners. Stonehouse followed with a double down the right field line to score both runners as Elon built a 6-2 edge.

The Tigers responded in the third, pulling within one thanks to a three-run inning. The frame began with a Lennox single and a walk before a fly out put runners at the corners. With two down, Andrew Cassard singled to center to cut the Phoenix lead to 6-3. Charlie Watters followed with a single to left to pick up one RBI, but two would score on the play after an Elon error as the Towson deficit was down to just a run.

Elon created some breathing room in the fourth, scoring three runs. With Evers on third after a single and pair of stolen bases, Ogren hit a one-out double to the gap in left to drive him home. Satterfield followed with an RBI single and moved to second on the throw to the plate. After a wild pitch advanced Satterfield to third, Stonehouse hit a bouncer to third. The Tigers threw home, but the catcher dropped the ball, allowing Satterfield to cross the plate with the ninth Phoenix run of the game.

Towson would score its final run in the ninth on Gimblet’s infield single.
