Elon Baseball’s Elon’s Brnovich Recognized by CAA Again

RICHMOND, Va. – For the third time this season, Elon University sophomore Kyle Brnovich has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week the league office announced on Monday, May 21.

Brnovich allowed only an unearned run on three hits over 8.0 innings and struck out nine in Elon’s 6-2 victory over William & Mary last Thursday. The Milton, Ga., resident, who is now third on Elon’s career strikeouts list (244), ranks fifth on the CAA’s season K’s chart with 141, a total that leads the nation and is 10 shy of Justin Verlander’s league mark. Brnovich is 8-2 with a 1.68 ERA. The righty was also named to the 2018 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team last week.

Brnovich’s performance helped the Phoenix clinch the number two seed in the upcoming CAA Tournament. The maroon and gold will begin tournament play at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, against either third-seeded College of Charleston or sixth-seeded Hofstra in Harrisonburg, Va.
