From Memorial Day Monday:
The Post 53 Greensboro Redwings celebrated Memorial Day with a 13-11 victory over cross-town rival Post 87 HiToms. The Red Wings put up four runs in the first inning, all with two outs. Runs were brought in on hits by Bennett Nooe, Braxton King, Ryan Waltman, and a walk by Ethan Edwards. Post 53 put up another four runs in the second inning on a King single and a three-run home run from Waltman. Two runs scored in the third on back-to-back doubles by Jaylen Guy and Nooe. King drove in another run in the fifth and a seventh inning wild pitch and a single from Waltman brought in the final runs for the Red Wings.

Bryce Amoriello started on the mound for the Red Wings in what would be a bullpen day. Amoriello went two innings and allowed three runs on a bases-clearing two-out double from Jacob Edwards, who was thrown out trying to make it a triple. Carson Smith relieved Amoriello in the third and retired one batter but allowed a single and two walks before Colby Stuart entered the game. The HiToms managed to score four in the third inning. Stuart went three innings in relief before Nate Landreth came in to finish the game. Landreth allowed four runs, but maintained the lead en route to the victory. Stuart was credited with the win.

With the victory, Post 53 moves to 2-1 on the year and will face Rowan County in their home opener on Thursday.
