Greensboro Redwings vs. Randolph County on Thursday, in Asheboro….7pm

Greensboro Redwings from Wednesday night, at WordPress:
Randolph County’s offense took off early in Tuesday’s Northern Division matchup with Post 53 and carried them to a 9-4 victory.

Randolph County quickly scored five runs in two innings on a sacrifice fly and a grand slam. Ruben Santos entered the game in the third inning and finished the game for Post 53, allowing only two earned runs over five innings.

Offensively, the Red Wings hit well, but struggled to find holes as Randolph’s defense made a handful of great plays. The first run of the game for Greensboro came in the first inning. Ryan Waltman singled to bring in Brady Quakenbush from third, who had led off the frame with a walk. The next run didn’t come until the sixth inning when Braxton King doubled to bring in Jaylen Guy, who had led the inning off with a hit of his own. The next inning, Post 53 put up two runs after Guy reached on an error to bring in Joseph Morgan and Quakenbush scored on a groundout. Bennet Nooe flew out to the deepest part of the park on a great defensive play by center fielder Austin Curry to end the game.

Jaylen Guy led the offensive charge for the Red Wings, going 2-4 with a run scored, an RBI, and a stolen base.

Greensboro dropped to 3-4 on the year and 1-2 in the Division. They are currently in fifth place in the division, but are only a game and a half behind Division leaders Randolph County and Davidson County. They will travel to Asheboro on Thursday for a rematch with Randolph County, scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM.
