**********Monday Night Finals from our Middle School Football Games/Monday in the Middle:**********
Southern Guilford Middle 34, The Academy at Lincoln 0
Southern Guilford Middle School opened its season with a 34-0 conference victory over Lincoln. The offense was spearheaded by Ethan Cox at center, Jaden Buie at tackle, Justin Barrie at tight end and Conner Fields and Zach Ware at receivers. They provided run support so Rydell Herbin and Jakyri Manning could rush for two TDs each. Jamias Ferere and Justin Barrie each added a PAT run. The SG defense was amazing shutting down Lincoln. Jerron Copper had two interceptions, returning one for a TD. Ethan Cox forced a fumble and Jaylin White added an interception. A great start to the season.

  1. We try and cover them from the Pee Wees to the Pros and if the Middle School coaches and fans keep sending us info, that is really a BIG help too…..

We had Middle School info yesterday on one post and another post, we had Larry Ogunjobi getting it done for the Cleveland Browns in the pros and we had Larry with us on a show probably 8 years ago on a Thursday night….

Young Cody King, now a senior at Page, was a big-time player at Aycock/now Swann back in the day and Cody all over the place here on the site back then and now he is busting loose on the scene for the Page Pirates…

I remember Cody wearing #84 for Aycock and went he went out wide, he was wayyyyyy out there at WR…I’m not sure if the QB could even get the ball out there to him, but Cody King was a true middle school wide out…I think his QB might have been Chris Zellous, now the QB at Grimsley HS…

Lots of good memories all over the football place in Guilford County from over the years…..

And speaking about players and remembering, Christian McCaffrey, RB of the Carolina Panthers, wears the #22 and when he runs wearing that #22, he reminds me of another #22 from days gone by, John Cappelletti, from Penn State…

Just like Christian McCaffrey, John Cappelletti, wore the #22 he ran like a mad-man up the football field…

McCaffrey is now getting it done for the Panthers, just like John Cappelletti did back in the day for LA Rams and others….John Cappelletti was a big-time RB in college for Penn State and he won the Heisman Trophy his senior year in college, and I think McCaffrey did the same, although after checking on that, I see where McCaffrey finished second in the Heisman voting his sophomore year at Stanford….

Good memories and good football going on these days….

Cappelletti amd McCaffrey, sort of sound the same….

Middle School Football, JV Football, High School Football, College Football, Pro Football…They all sound good and we hope to give them some good coverage….

  2. More news from the Southern Guilford Middle School camp on Monday, by way of Twitter:

Coach McCoury’s SGMS FB Award Winners vs Lincoln:
    OFF: Rydell Herbin/Jakyri Manning
    DEF: Jerron Copper/Jaylin White
    OL: Ethan Cox/Jaden Buie
    WR/TE: Connor Fields/Zach Ware/Justin Barrie

  3. Head Coach at Northeast Middle is Ryan Fulk (also the head wrestling coach at the middle school). Assistants are Austin Elmore and Benjamin Bennett. Brian Avolio is the AD at the Middle School, has been for several years now.
Rams look to capitalize on experience from returners Justin Choronis at QB, and 2 big linemen on both sides of the ball in Tremel Hester and Logan Wright.
Choronis with a passing TD last night and Hester and Wright both with multiple sacks and a fumble recovery last night against Western Guilford

  4. Maybe Brian Avolio is assisting up at the high school with the NEG Varsity Rams…I was thinking he was coaching out there at NEG in some capacity with football..

Good group of coaches there withe Coach Fulk, and Austin Elmore, with Benjamin Bennett….I think Elmore might be a former NEG student and player and if not his name sounds familiar from at least one of our Guilford County Schools and if this Benjamin Bennett is anything like the Ben Bennett that used to be a Duke, then NEG would have one heck of a QB coach on their hands…

Got to hand it to NEG on Tuesday at WG, the Rams did jump on quite a few of those Tiger fumbles and those NEG lineman are BIG, that is for sure and with them and Choronis, Coach Bates has some prime talent headed his way soon….
