GREENSBORO, N.C.-Darli Mihindou found the back of the net in the 84th minute to propel the Greensboro College men’s soccer team over Methodist University Wednesday, 2-1.

After knocking on Methodist’s door four times in the first half, the Pride registered the first goal of the contest in the 53rd minute.

Senior Carlos Barragan gained possession of the ball and crossed over the 18-yd box. The ball found the feet of Jordy Briceno, who then tapped it in past the keeper to give Greensboro the one-goal edge.

Both teams began to play with twice the intensity, but Methodist won that battle to even the score at one in the 73rd minute.

Less than ten minutes later, the Pride won the war.

In the 84th minute, Briceno skated past the Monarchs’ defense to feed Mihindou. Without hesitation, Mihindou whipped it in and secured the 2-1 victory for Greensboro.

“It was good to see the boys pick up another hard-fought conference match,” said Head Coach Tony Falvino. “We played in patches today and need to be better in front of the goal.

“We have a tough weekend ahead of us and need all of the players to give their best effort over this weekend.”

Elmer Martinez cashed in on the win in the goal for the Pride after recording three saves.

Greensboro will be back on Pride Field Saturday at 12 p.m. when they face-off against USA South opponent, Huntingdon College. For more information on Greensboro College sports, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
