  1. Andy,

Who will be the top local basketball teams in the area this year? I believe some teams start scrimmaging on 11/3. On the Boys side will the Langley twins return the Ranch produce another title for SW and how will GDS replace Newman & Dillard. What other teams make some noise this year on the boys side. On the girls side will NW fall with the injury to Kitley and the graduation of Gibbs and Gauldin. With Cunane gone to NC State who is the other top girl teams to watch this year.

  2. SWG should be favored to win the 3-A Boys title(Langley Twins have returned) although they will still have to go through Cox Mill and Wendell Moore….

NWG is loaded on the boys 4-A level with Christian Hampton, Dean Rieber, Noah Allred and much more…

Eastern Guilford will still be strong on the boys 3-A end with Nic Cheely, Justin Matthews and Nathan White back, plus Smith will still be a boys major 3-A contender and Dudley is back on the rise with Jeremiah Dickerson coming to Dudley from SEG…Smith got the McMullen kid coming over from Eastern Guilford to Smith…

Smith lost their top guard Camren Hayes to Greensboro Day School and the Day School has both Austin Inge(former Grimsley guard) and Hayes at guard and the top GDS player is Carson McCorkle, already committed to Virginia and kind of reminds me of Walker Holt, who used to play for Grimsley…GDS also has post man, big Mike Fowler back, and he has had tons of college offers…GDS picked up Jackson Noble, a tall freshman, who came there from Kiser and they do have more and they are a huge favorite to do much damage on all levels this season….Will be facing Cox Mill and Wendell Moore in a game down in Charlotte early in the season..GDS also has Noah Dunn back, sort of power forward, who likes to step out and shoot the three….

Girls NWG will be OK and they are favored to repeat their back-to-back 4-A Titles, Kitley should be back by playoff time or sooner and King, Kargo and company ought to be able to keep it rolling until then…

Dudley will be a favorite on the 3-A level with Symphony Jackson and Diamond Monroe leading the way and don’t be surprised if Eastern Guilford is not very good and a main contender again, with the players they have coming back and they got in football Coach Joe Glass’s daughter, she is a main player and might turn out to be the team leader…..

Northern will be MUCH smaller, but they should be quick and NEG might give it a good go out on Hicone Road this year…

Another 4-A team that might be real force are the Ragsdale Tigers. They just started getting warmed up last year and with the Frazier kid and the coach’s two daughters out there, Ragsdale is probably talking a 20 win season….Coach Ben is the coach…Ben Barrett, Ben Barfield, can’t really remember Ben’s last name…

Grimsley has the top up-and-coming girls point guard in the area in Destiny Timberlake, be sure to keep and eye out for her, she is just a freshman and just in from Kiser…

Back on the boys side for a note, the Piedmont Classical School picked up Terrell McIntyre, the tall and strong guard from Page…..

We could go on all day with these notes, but we will save a few, basketball will be here soon….
