Today’s Middle School Lineup:
(We are looking for some scores, from yesterday’s/Tuesday’s games.)

Wednesday October 31……….
Ferndale Middle(6-0) at Southern Guilford Middle 5pm
Ferndale winning the ball game, 28-0…Ferndale had three touchdowns called back due to penalties…Ferndale took the opening kickoff 78 yards for a TD on a strong and fast run by Curt Ervin…The point conversion was good and Ferndale led early, with 7:45 to go in the first quarter, the score was Ferndale 8, SG O….Ferndale scored again with 2:26 to go in first quarter, on a touchdown pass by Aaron Covington with another good Ferndale PAT, it was Ferndale 16, SG 0….As the first quarter came to close, Ferndale maintained that two-touchdown lead the Ferndale Trojans were on top of the Southern Guilford Knights, 16-0….

In the second quarter, Ferndale got on the scoreboard again, on a 15-yard TD pass by Aaron Covington and this time the two-point pass attempt on the conversion failed and that gave Ferndale a 22-0 lead at halftime…Again, your halftime score was Ferndale Middle 22, Southern Guilford Middle 0….

Neither team could find the end zone in the 3rd quarter and the halftime scored held up, with Ferndale remaining in front over SG, 22-0….End of the 3rd Quarter:Ferndale 22, Southern Guilford 0….

In the fourth and final quarter, Ferndale connected one more time through the air, as the Ferndale Trojans’ quarterback Aaron Covington launched a 57-yard TD pass that found the Trojan receiver in stride and there was no looking back, all the way into the end zone, and Ferndale has taken a commanding 28-0 lead over the Southern Guilford Knights, on Halloween Night, at C.K. Siler Stadium….On the conversion, the two-point pass play/attempt failed and Ferndale had their finishing score to the game, with the Final:Ferndale 28, Southern Guilford 0

The Ferndale QB Aaron Covington was very impressive today at C.K. Siler Stadium, where he was showing both excellent passing and running skills…Aaron Covington a big-time runner and passer, on the move, and he seems to know where to go with the ball, whether it be in his hands, or he might putting it in someone else’s hands…..

Ethan Cox was tough all day long on defense for Southern Guilford and the SG Knights got interceptions from defenders Latrell Wilson and McCoury, plus SG had solid running on the afternoon from Rydell Herbin….
********And with that final score you know that Coach Shaw’s Defense from Ferndale was right and ripe today too….That Ferndale Defense came ready and refused to let Southern Guilford in the end zone, on the Halloween Afternoon Football Game…Plenty of serious football and some tricks, but no treats, if you were looking to score vs. Ferndale in this game…Heavy Hitters….**********

  5. Jamestown clinched their conference championship with a 45-0 win over Kernodle last night! I, personally, would love a county playoff!

  6. No disrespect and i appreciate schools and coaches but i would scrap all middle school football. Have these kids play youth football leagues including forsyth teams. 10u, 12u and 14u. No weight limit and best players going at it saturdays with true football coaches and development being the foal.

  7. @ Gsoparent

Development is the key word you mentioned. However, that needs to happen prior to 7th and 8th grade. Your child needs to develop the skills, passion/love for the game, and be coachable way before Middle School. And with that said, you never want to deprive the kids, parents, cheerleaders, bands, students, teachers/schools, communities of the school aspect of football at the middle school level. This also gets them prepared for High School, and keeps the relationships with the High School coaches. I grew up playing Middle School Sports/Junior High, it was irreplaceable. But you are correct, “true football coaches” need to be in place..
