Playoff Bound! Elon Football Earns Second-Straight FCS Playoff Berth

ELON, N.C. – Earning its second-straight at-large bid to the FCS Playoffs, Elon University football will make its third postseason appearance in its Division I history when it visits Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C, on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m.

FCS Bracket

Elon finished the regular season with a 6-4 mark and a 4-3 CAA Football record. Wofford wrapped up the regular season with a 8-3 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the Southern Conference. It claimed a share of the SoCon’s regular-season championship and earned the conference’s automatic berth.

The winner of the Elon-Wofford game will advance to the second round to take on fourth-seeded Kennesaw State on Saturday, Dec. 1.

“I’m happy to have the opportunity to continue our season and I’m very proud of our football team,” said Elon head coach Curt Cignetti. “I’m particularly happy for our seniors. They already have an outstanding legacy and this adds to it leading this program to the first back-to-back playoff appearances in Elon history. While we’re not at home, we’re excited to be close to home in South Carolina and look forward to seeing Phoenix fans on the road with us next weekend.”

Elon is one of six CAA teams in the field this year. It is joined by regular-season champion and No. 7 national seed Maine, James Madison, Stony Brook, Towson and Delaware to set a new record for the most teams from one conference to make the field of 24.

Tickets to the game will be on sale through Wofford’s ticket office. Please visit woffordterriers.com for more information about purchasing tickets.
