GREENSBORO, N.C. — Ashley Oldshue scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Emory University defeated Guilford College, 67-45, on Sunday afternoon to close the Daly 7 Classic Tournament. Oldshue was 10-of-14 shooting and was named the tournament’s most valuable player.
The Eagles, who led the entire game, improved to 2-1. The Quakers dropped to 1-2.
Emory outscored Guilford 25-13 in the first quarter and held a 37-24 edge at halftime. For the game, EU shot 47-percent (29-61) to Guilford’s 38-percent (17-45).
Lindsay Gauldin was the lone Quaker to score in double figures. She had 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
The Eagles led in rebounding (40-22) and assists (18-6). Emory had 17 turnovers and forced 22 Quaker miscues.
Azzairia Jackson-Sherrod had 13 points, three blocks and seven rebounds for the visitors. Lindsey Tse notched nine assists for EU.
Oldshue was joined on the tournament team by Guilford’s Gauldin and EU teammate Erin Lindahl. Amanda Gerni (Virginia Wesleyan) and Katie Lewis (Greensboro) were also named to the Guilford College Daly 7 Classic Tournament Team. VWU defeated The Pride, 79-73, in the day’s early game.
The Quakers return to action on Tuesday (11/20) at Salem College. Game time is 6 p.m.
