College Women’s Swimming Results – Guilford Takes Third at Greensboro College Invitational

CARY, N.C. – Guilford College’s women’s swimming team placed third among seven teams at the two-day Greensboro College Invitational that concluded Sunday at the Triangle Aquatic Center.

NCAA Division II member the University of North Carolina at Pembroke won the meet with 636 points, followed by Guilford’s Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Randolph College (407). The Quakers collected 319 points, followed by Ferrum College (311), William Peace University (229), Warren Wilson College (105) and Greensboro (83).

Guilford had three top-three finishes in four events Sunday. Aubrey Helfenbein placed second in the 200-yard backstroke in two minutes, 46.90 seconds. Junior Carolyn O’Halloran (Summerfield, N.C./Bishop McGuinness) touched third in the 100 freestyle in 58.51 seconds and rookie Rebecca Shenhouse turned in a third-place time in the 200 breaststroke (3:01.03). Guilford’s 400 freestyle relay finished sixth of six teams in 5:11.31. Shenhouse, Cassandra Pagan, Hannah Preston, and O’Halloran comprised the relay.

O’Halloran earned 77.5 of Guilford’s points in the two-day meet. Shenhouse had 76.5 points and Helfenbein earned 72.5 markers.

Coach Brad Herndon’s team resumes its dual-meet schedule December 8 at league-rival Roanoke College at 4:00 p.m.
