College Women’s Basketball Final: Guilford 62, Salem 50

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Freshman Calyn Davis scored a season and game-high 20 points as Guilford College won at Salem College, 62-50, on Tuesday night.

The Quakers, who snapped a two-game losing skid, improved to 2-2. The Spirits dropped to 0-5.

Davis was 7-of-17 shooting and made six three-point baskets. Teammate Miracle Walters added 19 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Julie Carini grabbed a career and game-best 15 rebounds for the visitors.

Guilford held a 31-19 lead at halftime. Salem, however, outscored the Quakers 16-10 in the third quarter. The visitors outscored Salem 21-15 in the final 10 minutes.

Makalia Burnette and Chaniece Moss each had 12 points for the Spirits. Aaliyah Webb had a team-best 11 rebounds for the home club.

Guilford led in rebounding (54-43) and assists (17-8). The Quakers had 20 turnovers but forced 26 Salem miscues.

Guilford returns to action on Sunday at Virginia Wesleyan University. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference game tips off at 2 p.m.
