The Cowboys were on the road again and headed over to square off against the Titans of West Forsyth. These two teams have had some solid battles in the last few years, and Southwest has managed to come out victorious in those three contests. This season the Titans are struggling out of the gate. West Forsyth came into tonight’s tilt after a second half comeback at home fell just short to remain win-less on the season. The Cowboys are still trying to piece things together while maintaining their win streak. The Cowboys came out hungry and jumped out to an early 7-0 lead. The Titans responded with a 4-0 spurt of their own to cut it to 7-4 at the 3:50 mark. The Cowboys forced the tempo and in a blink they had a 13-0 run and it was 20-4. West Forsyth stopped the bleeding momentarily with a basket with 40 seconds to go, but the Cowboys went the length of the court and finished the frame with another bucket, closing it at 22-6.
Southwest opened the scoring in the second quarter as well but the Titans matched it and it was 24-8. Another 9-0 run by the Cowboys pushed it out to 33-8 by the 4:12 mark. A pair of made free throws by the Titans stopped the run. But that only started another 8-0 run that made it 41-10. The last ninety seconds of the half were back and forth and it was 45-15.
The third quarter was more defensive pressure and more easy baskets. The margin crossed the 40 point threshold with 4:40 to go in the frame at 59-19. The rest of the frame and the rest of the game ended in a blur, as the Cowboys bench played a solid second half to help the visiting Cowboys roll to a convincing 72-33 win.
Leading the way for the Titans was Tyler Beckner with 11 points. Southwest got great contributions on both sides of the ball from the whole roster. Offensive leaders on the night were: Kobe Langley with (19 points, 6 Asts, 2 Stls), Jay’Den Turner with (16 points, 6 Rebs, 3 Asts), Joel Pettiford with (16 points, 8 Rebs), and Christian Martin with (10 points, 5 Rebs).
