GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men’s basketball team fell to the Aggies of North Carolina A&T State University in an exhibition contest Saturday 92-67.

Michael Phifer gave Greensboro a 3-0 lead on their first possession of the game before the Aggies used a 9-0 run to take a 9-3 lead with 17:20 showing on the clock.

Following the 9-0 run, the Aggies were able to extend their lead to 21-11 over the next four minutes before establishing their largest lead of the half at 24-13.

Despite facing the double-digit deficit, Greensboro was able to battle back to tie the game with an 11-0 run that featured three three-pointers by Keyford Langley.

Over the final eight minutes of the half, A&T regained a four-point advantage before going into the break with a 42-40 lead.

In the second half, Greensboro struggled from the field, which allowed the Aggies to pull away for the victory.

“I thought that we played a really good first half and we could have went into the break with the lead if he had executed better on couple of possessions late in the half,” Head Coach Bryan Galuski said. “Our kids came out and made shots and I thought our defensive physicality was very good.

“We started out the second half rather slow which allowed A&T to get comfortable, which shell-shocked us some. Overall, our kids grew today from certain poisons and we were able to give a lot of kids more opportunities than they have had so far this year.”

Phifer finished with a game-high 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting to go along with seven rebounds and four assists. Langley chipped in 14 points, while pulling down five rebounds and dishing out eight assists. Justin Minnis and Keyshawn Dorsey combined for 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Pride men will return to action Dec. 17 when they travel to St. Mary’s College of Maryland. For more information on Greensboro College men’s basketball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
