East Forsyth seized the lead early & never trailed enroute to a 58-48 road victory at North Forsyth Monday night. The Eagles scored 13 of the game’s first 16 points & maintained the lead throughout a close contest on the Vikings’ home floor, taking its largest lead of the game (11 points) with 17 seconds remaining.

North Forsyth surged in the third quarter behind improved outside shooting & cut the lead to one point twice at the start of the final quarter. But the Eagles made 14 of the final 15 free throws down the stretch to open their lead back to double digits at the finish.

Khaliq McCummings led all scorers with 17 points , including 9-10 at the free throw line, and added six rebounds while Savon Brintley & Zyun Reeves added 13 each. Reeves also grabbed nine rebounds to lead East. Marquez Hurst led North Forsyth with 15 points & a game-high 10 rebounds.

East Forsyth plays the second of three road games this week on Wednesday night at Parkland. The Eagles travel to Mount Tabor on Friday night before breaking for the Christmas holiday. East, the top seed in the Pepsi bracket, opens play in the Frank Spencer Holiday Classic on December 26 against Carver.
