“We are looking forward to the beginning of our spring season,” said Anderson. “The schedule is very strong and it will prepare us well for the conference tournament in April. We are thrilled to be hosting the CAA Championships once again at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center for the fourth consecutive year.”

Elon’s 14-match home slate features two contests in January, three in February, five in the month of March, and all four contests, in addition to the CAA Women’s Tennis Championships, in April. During its home schedule, the Phoenix will face the likes of North Carolina A&T, NC Central, Radford, William & Mary, Davidson, East Carolina, Mercer, Morgan State, Maryland Eastern Shore, James Madison, UNCG, South Carolina State, College of Charleston and George Washington.

Throughout the season, Elon will make trips to ACC foes Duke and North Carolina, head to Gardner-Webb and Furman, trek to Virginia to face VCU and Richmond, as well as play road contests at Campbell and UNCW.

The five teams that Elon will face that made the 2018 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships include Final Four participant Duke, North Carolina, Furman, William & Mary and VCU. The lone match at home against these five teams comes against the Tribe on Feb. 10 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. The Phoenix faces four CAA teams this season, which includes hosting William & Mary on Feb. 10, James Madison on March 23 and College of Charleston on April 7. Elon’s lone road contest against a league foe will be on March 27 at UNCW.

For the fourth straight season, the Phoenix will host the CAA Men’s and Women’s Championships at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center and the Burlington Tennis Center in April. The 2019 CAA Women’s Tennis Championships will be played April 18-21.

Elon returns six players from a 2017-18 team that posted a 14-13 dual match record and finished its season falling to eventual 2018 CAA Champion William & Mary 4-2 in the semifinals of the conference tournament at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. Highlighting the returners are All-CAA doubles honorees Maria Paraja and Alex Koniaev, as well as Suzanne Zenoni, who finished with a team-best 16-8 singles record. Zenoni, Paraja, and Montana Moore are the three seniors on the squad in 2018-19. Juniors Koniaev and Sofia Edo round out Elon’s group of five upperclassman, while Mia Wallace is the maroon and gold’s lone sophomore this season. Additionally, the Phoenix infused three newcomers for 2018-19 in Olivia Archer, Uma Nayar and Nicole Shiau.
