**********Martin Samek has decided to leave Winston-Salem Parkland as the head football coach after six years to become the head coach at Rolesville High School in Wake County.**********

Samek helped guide the Mustangs to an 11-2 record and a second-round appearance in the NCHSAA Class 3-AA playoffs. After finishing 0-11 in his first two years at Parkland, he completed his six-year run with a record of 27-43.

WS Parkland athletic director Linwood Jerald on Martin Samek leaving Parkland:
“It’s a shock, but people want to hire people that are successful,” Jerald said. “If you’re 3-7 or 2-8, you know, nobody’s going to hire you. He’s put the train on a good solid track. We’ve been able to do some things.”
