++++++++++Still keeping an eye and ear on the Page boys basketball head coaching job…There will be a ton of applicants for this job and you have to wonder if any of those who applied last time, will be looking at this job again, now that is open again….Will probably see first priority being a coach that will also need to be a teacher at the school…Coach Matt Harder has done an outstanding job as a teacher, while coaching boys basketball at Page…So if you are going to be a teacher at Page, it serves to reason that you will also need your college degree….

So do we see any coaches like Jeff Smith, the top assistant to Freddy Johnson over at the Greensboro Day School, get in the mix again??? Will we see Brandon Clifford, who was an assistant at Page back in the day under Coach Robert Kent, and last check, Clifford was coaching high school basketball out in Tennessee, and he spent time as the head man at High Point Christian Academy and worked a year or two with the Dallas Mavericks, will Clifford look to come back to Greensboro???

I have this feeling a coach who has done a great job down at Southern Guilford, Evan Fancourt, might look at a job like this one and say, ‘hey maybe I need to apply for the Page job’ and hope to land this position and move up to the 4-A ranks, at one of the best-known high schools in the state..Does a coach like Coach Fancourt, aspire to make a move like this one??? Your guess is as good and mine, and I am just speculating….

We heard the name James “Junior” Braswell dropped in here a few days back, when the job at Page was announced to be opening up, at the conclusion of the 2018-2019 high school basketball season…We don’t know the whereabouts of Junior Braswell, or much on his overall coaching and playing background, but I do remember the name of Tonya Braswell, and well maybe she was at Page and on the girls team a while back…

Just some speculation and the job applications may already be rolling in, but we will to wait a while for this future of this Page High School boys basketball job to come into full focus, and that is our goal, to bring “Sports into Focus”…….

++++++++++And on a related matter….We wonder how former long-time Page boys basketball coach Mac Morris is doing these days…Did not see him at this year’s HAECO Tournament, and was just wondering how Coach Morris was doing these days…A true Hall of Famer, from over the years, with I think 3 NCHSAA 4-A Titles in his time leading the Page boys basketball program…++++++++++

**********I had heard back in the Fall of 2018, that former Page football coach Marion Kirby had been under declining health, and he was not doing all that great in recent months…Another true championship coach, at Page HS, back in the days and I had been hearing that dementia had been attacking Coach Kirby and that he was battling, but it was had been a very rough go of it lately, for Coach Kirby.**********

Similar news for former Grimsley girls basketball assistant coach and long-time Greensboro Parks and Rec man, Wayne Butler….Wayne was an assistant under coach Phil Weaver and part of that Grimsley girls basketball staff with Coach Weaver, Wayne Butler and Wayne Barker that took the Whirlies to the 4-A State Title game back around 2007…You had Trumae Lucas, Nicole Hargraves, Kristen Fields, Amber Cook and one more DI product on that Grimsley girl’s team, and Wayne Butler was a big part of that club/team…Worked for many years with the Greensboro Parks and Rec Department and last check he was at New Garden Friends Home, and it was day-to-day for Wayne Butler, and he had been receiving Hospice Care…

Just wanted to drop in a few notes today and we wish the best for all of those mentioned above……..
