Elon Football Places Among Top 20 in Final National Rankings

ELON, N.C. – Elon University football finished the 2018 season ranked No. 19 in both national polls released Monday, Jan. 7, after the conclusion of the FCS season on Saturday afternoon.

In all, Elon collected 909 points in the STATS FCS poll while earning 153 points in the final AFCA Coaches poll. With the 19th-place finish, Elon has now been among the Top 20 in the final release of the STATS poll each of the last two seasons. Overall, the Phoenix has been ranked for each of its last 20 games going back to September 2017.

Six CAA Football programs finished among the Top 25 this season. National semifinalist Maine topped the league at No. 4 in the STATS poll and No. 5 in the AFCA poll. National champion North Dakota State topped both polls, holding the No. 1 spot from start to finish during the 2018 season.

Under the leadership of first-year head coach Tony Trisciani, Elon will look to build on the Top 20 finish in 2019 when it opens the campaign at North Carolina A&T on Saturday, Aug. 31. One week later, Elon will host its home opener on Sept. 7 against The Citadel.

Season parking passes for the 2019 campaign will be on sale to Phoenix Club members at the Maroon & Gold ($250) giving level and above at a later date.
