East Forsyth broke open a close early game with a 16-2 stretch through the middle of the first half & cruised to a 69-51 victory over Salem Baptist Christian at Jack Masten Gymnasium in Kernersville Tuesday night. The win was the ninth in the last ten games for the Eagles, now 9-3 going into the start of conference play on Friday.

Salem Baptist’s started patiently, leading early & staying even with East at 9-9 Midway through the first quarter. But the Eagles turned up the tempo behind leading scorers Jimmy Nichols & Savon Brintley (13 points each), opening a 25-11 lead midway through the second quarter and led by as many as 22 during the second half.

Matt Rivers added 11 points and a game-high six rebounds in a balanced attack for East, while Khaliq McCummings had 10 & sophomore center Zyun Reeves had 9 points and six rebounds. Eagles’ forward Torrian Jackson also grabbed six rebounds for the winners, who start Central Piedmont 4A Conference play at West Forsyth on Friday and home games against Reagan and Glenn next week.

Salem Baptist’s Daniel Leal led all scorers with 23 points and Mac Beatty added 11 for true Vikings, now 8-9.
