It was a “Family Affair” this past high school football season for the Brewington family with Donovan, Kevin, Bryan and their father Rodney all on the sidelines for South View High School

Here’s the word on former Smith Golden Eagles’ head football coach Rodney Brewington and his three sons, Donovan, Kevin and Bryan and all three of them were part of the high school football team this past 2018 season at South View High School, near Fayetteville…They had a lot to be thankful for this past football season, as South View was in the playoffs at Thanksgiving time and here is the word/story on the Brewington family and the football ‘Family Affair”, at South View high school and this post and story/article comes in to us from J. Mike Blake, at the High School OT, inside WRALSportsFan.com….www.wralsportsfan.com

Here is how J. Mike Blake gets this one started….

There was a backyard game called “wide receiver” that Donovan, Kevin, and Bryan Brewington used to play in the family’s backyard while growing up.

In it, Donovan — the oldest — would play quarterback and Kevin — the middle son, one year younger than Donovan — and Bryan — the youngest, three years younger than Donovan and one younger than Kevin — would alternate being the wideout and the defensive back.

Four downs apiece. No first downs. You’ve got to score.

“We would just pretend like we’re in this big stadium, winning a championship and just going back and forth, so it was fun,” said Kevin. “And when we were little, we were talking to our dad. We said, when we played for him, our dream is to win a state championship with all of us on the same team. And we’re a step closer to that goal.”

On Thanksgiving, one of the things the Brewingtons could be thankful for was one more game with all of them on the same sideline.

Donovan, now a senior, was the quarterback and Kevin, now a junior, was a wide receiver.

Bryan, a freshman, was the manager after completing his first year on the JV.

And their father, Rodney Brewington, was their head coach. In his fourth season back at his alma mater, where he was a starter on the 1991 state championship team, Rodney coached the Tigers to a 10-2 mark, the first time since 2007 the school has won more than nine games.
