College Women’s Basketball News – Guilford’s Miracle Walters Named ODAC Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s Miracle Walters (Elkin, N.C./Elkin) collected the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Award on Monday. The junior is the first Quaker so honored this year, and the announcement marks the first weekly honor of her career.

Walters, a 5-9 junior forward, led the Quakers to home wins over nationally ranked Emory & Henry College and ODAC-leader Randolph-Macon College, which put Guilford in sole possession atop the league standings. She averaged 21.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Walters shot over 69 percent from the floor and played all but two minutes. She made 9 of 12 field goals on the way to 19 points against Emory & Henry. She also contributed four rebounds and two assists. Walters also earned her first double-double of the season in the win against Randolph-Macon with a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Walters leads the Quakers’ offense and stands sixth in the ODAC with an average of 15.3 points per game. She sits second in the league with a 55.7% field goal percentage. She contributes 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

Coach Stephanie Flamini’s Quakers (11-4) travel to league-rival University of Lynchburg Wednesday, January 16, looking for their fifth straight win and their 10th win in 11 games.
