Guilford Track & Field Teams Competed at Last Minute Invitational

SALEM, Va. – The Guilford College track & field teams competed at the Last Minute Invitational on Saturday. The meet was hosted by Roanoke College and featured primarily Old Dominion Athletic Conference competition.

Freshman Ranicha Sargeant set a new women’s long jump record for the Quakers. She leaped 4.80 meters and surpassed her earlier Guilford mark of 4.66M. Sargeant was third of eight competitors in the event.

Sophomore teammate Zarea Pitts recorded the eighth-best distance in the long jump after posting a mark of 4.44M.

Freshman Ananya Bernardo was sixth in the 800 meter run. She clocked a time of 2:39.47 in the race.

On the men’s side, Jeremiah Hedrick recorded a distance of 13.16 meters in the triple jump. His mark was the second-best in Guilford history. Hedrick was second in the triple jump and the long jump, where he finished with a 6.23M mark.

Asa Bell was fourth of 23 runners in the 200M dash. The sophomore clocked a 23:47 time for the Quakers.

Coach Marty Owens’ Quakers return to action on Thursday night (2/7) in the JDL Team Challenge. The event begins at 5 p.m. at the Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
