HIGH POINT, N.C. — The High Point University men’s basketball team (12-10, 5-3 Big South) continues Big South play at home against Campbell (13-9, 6-2) on Thursday (Feb. 7). Tip-off at the Millis Center is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

• This will be the 56th meeting between the two programs, with HPU leading the series, 34-21. High Point has won seven of the last eight matchups.
• This will be the second time that High Point head coach Tubby Smith will face Campbell in his head coaching career. His Kentucky team defeated the Camels, 82-50, on Dec. 29, 2004.
• Last time out, the Panthers defeated Hampton, 85-69, on Saturday (Feb. 2) at the Millis Center. HPU led by 18 at the break and never let the Pirates get closer than 11 in the second half.
• All five starters scored in double figures for High Point for the first time since Jan. 27, 2018 against UNC Asheville. It was the second time this season that HPU had five players in double figures (The Citadel, Nov. 27, 2018).
• Senior Jordan Whitehead recorded 11 points and dished out a career-high six assists.
• Junior Brandonn Kama led the Panthers with 16 points and seven rebounds, while junior Jahaad Proctor added 14.
• Freshman Curtis Holland III, making his first start in a month, scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds against the Pirates.
• Off the bench, redshirt sophomore Tim Cameron added nine points and four rebounds against Hampton, while freshman Rob Peterson III tied his season high with six rebounds.
• The Panthers improved to 9-2 on the season when leading or tied at the break. HPU is 3-8 when trailing at halftime.
• High Point leads the Big South Conference and is 12th in the nation with a rebounding margin of +7.8 rebounds per game. The Purple & White have held a rebounding edge in 17 of their last 18 contests.
• The Panthers score 60.0 percent of their points from 2-point field goals, the second-highest ratio in the nation.
• The next game between Campbell and High Point on Feb. 21 in Buies Creek has been selected as an ESPNU Big South Wildcard matchup. The game has been moved back to a 9 p.m. tip and will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.

HISTORY vs. CAMPBELL
This will be the 56th meeting between the two programs, with the Panthers leading, 34-21. High Point has won seven of the last eight matchups after both teams won at home last season. In the last meeting, the Panthers won, 67-56, on Feb. 3, 2018 inside the Millis Center.

HISTORY vs. IN-STATE OPPONENTS
High Point has complied a 338-280 (.547) record all-time against Division I programs hailing from the Tar Heel State. HPU’s most common opponents are Elon (86-76), Appalachian State (60-36) and Western Carolina (42-23). The majority of those meetings came during the NAIA era. High Point is 85-79 (.518) against Big South programs from North Carolina and 253-201 (.557) against the rest of the state’s Div. I teams. HPU is 3-1 this season against Division I opponents from North Carolina with wins against East Carolina, Western Carolina and UNC Asheville and a loss to Gardner-Webb.

HPU head coach Tubby Smith has faced Campbell once before in his head coaching career. Coach Smith and his Kentucky Wildcats defeated the Camels, 82-50, on Dec. 29, 2004 in Lexington, Ky.

A LOOK AT THE CAMELS
Campbell is 13-9 overall and 6-2 in Big South Conference play after defeating Longwood, 83-62, on Saturday (Feb. 2) in Buies Creek, N.C. The Camels are led by Chris Clemons, who leads the nation in scoring with 29.2 points per game. Clemons is 125 points shy of becoming the ninth player in Division I history to score 3,000 career points. Second on the team in scoring is Andrew Eudy with 11.6 points per game while adding a team-leading 6.5 rebounds per contest.
