College Women’s Basketball Final: Guilford 78, William Peace 38

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Rachel Lippert came off the bench to score 10 points and add 10 rebounds as Guilford College cruised to a 78-37 win over William Peace University on Monday. Teammate Calyn Davis notched a game-best 12 points–and made all three of her three-pointers – as 11 Quakers scored in the contest.

Guilford won its eighth straight contest. GC has now won 12 of 13 games and has prevailed in 17 of its last 19 last outings. The Pacers dropped to 15-10.

Jule Carini added 10 points and eight rebounds for the home team. Alli Jackson was the fourth Quaker to recorded double figures after tallying a career-best 10 points.

WPU sat its top seven performers in the game. Maya Johnson (10 points) was the lone Pacer to record double digits in the contest.

Guilford’s top scorers – Miracle Walters and Lindsay Gauldin – were limited to 13 and 15 minutes of playing time respectively.

GC scored the first 14 points of the game. Aimee Hockaday scored the Pacer’s first bucket with 6:08 left in the first quarter. The Quakers led 18-4 after the initial period. The Quakers, who had 10 different players record points, held a 31-12 halftime edge. Jackson had a game-high six points at the break for GC.

William Peace was out-rebounded, 58-31. Guilford’s Monell Dunlap grabbed a game-high 11 boards.

Guilford shot 42-percent (29-69) to WPU’s 22 percent (13-59). The Quakers led by as many as 43 points in the non-conference tilt. WPU trailed in paint point s (38-10) and bench points (45-10). Both clubs committed 13 turnovers.

The Quakers – already Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) regular season champions–close out conference play on Saturday (2/16). Guilford plays at Randolph-Macon at 2 p.m.
