HPU MLAX Panthers Sweep SoCon Weekly Awards

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Senior Tim Troutner Jr. and sophomore Asher Nolting of the High Point University men’s lacrosse were named Southern Conference (SoCon) Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Troutner opened the season with six saves and posted the first shutout in program history against St. Bonaventure. He followed that performance with 19 saves and a win over No. 2 Duke. He currently leads the SoCon and ranks second in the NCAA in goals against average at 4.79 per game. Troutner also leads the conference in save percentage at .735, while ranking third in saves per game at 12.5.

Nolting tied a career-high with seven points (three goals, four assists) in the first game of the 2019 season against the Bonnies. The Greenwood Village, Colo. native recorded five points with two goals and three assists in the Panthers’ 13-9 win over Duke. Nolting leads the SoCon and is sixth in the nation in assists per game at 3.5. The sophomore is also first in the SoCon in points per game at 6.0. He ranks fourth in the conference in goals per game at 2.5.

The Panthers will be back in action Saturday (Feb. 16) as they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to play Drexel. The first face-off is set for 12 p.m.
