College Track & Field Results – Guilford Competes at JDL DMR Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Guilford College’s track and field teams competed at the nonscoring DMR Invitational at the JDL Fast Track Saturday. The meet featured contestants from all levels of college competition, ranging from junior colleges all the way up to Division I.

Alexis Waddell made her college debut and turned in the Quakers’ top weight throw of the season with a toss of 9.11 meters that placed 16th among 24 contestants. She also threw the shot put 8.72 meters, which is the second-longest toss by a Quaker this season.

Zarea Pitts posted a personal-best time in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.69 seconds that ranked 14th in the 17-runner field. She also has the Quakers’ best long jump of the day (4.20 meters), which placed 14th in the field.

On the men’s side, Amir Abdur-Rahim turned in a personal-best time of 24.81 seconds in the 200-meter dash. He placed 21st among 28 runners. Abdur-Rahim also ran Guilford’s second-fastest 400 time of the year with a 54.34 mark that placed 20th. Ben James represented the Quakers in the 800 and his time of two minutes, 14 seconds is the second-fastest by a Guilford runner this season.

Coach Marty Owens’ charges compete at next Sunday’s (2/24) Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships at Roanoke College.
