Elon Phoenix Concludes Indoor Regular Season at Virginia Tech and JDL Fast Track

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women’s track and field team concluded its indoor regular season with groups splitting at meets at the Virginia Tech Challenge and at the JDL DMR Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 16.

At the Virginia Tech Challenge, Katie Arbogast set a new personal-record time in the 400-meters with her time of 56.19 and was third overall. Lauren Brzozowski was fourth overall with her time of 56.27 – also a new personal-record. Arbogast now qualifies for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championships in the 400-meters.

In the 1,000-meters, Paige King finished as the runner-up with her time of 2:57.20, a new personal-record for the junior. Natacha Savioz won the 600-meters with her time of 1:33.79 in the race while Scola Kemei took medalist honors in the 3,000-meters with her time of 10:07.21.

Moira O’Malley won the women’s high jump after matching her personal-best with a cleared height of 5′ 5″ (1.65m). Elon concluded the Virginia Tech Challenge by winning the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:51.02, which qualifies the group for the ECACs.

At the JDL DMR Invitational, Skylar Barthelmes was the runner-up in the weight throw with a throw of 53′ 6.25″ (16.31m). Charlotte Bradsher was sixth overall with her throw of 50′ 8″ (15.44m).

Melissa Anastasakis ran a time of 4:53.04 in the one-mile and finished eighth overall in the race while Chelsea Smith was 11th at her time of 4:55.31.

The Phoenix will have a week off before heading to the 2019 ECAC Indoor Championship meet held at Boston University on March 1-3.
