HPU MBB’s Proctor Named Scholar-Athlete of the Year, All-Big South Second Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — High Point University men’s basketball junior Jahaad Proctor has been named the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as well being selected to the All-Big South Second Team, the conference announced Monday (March 4).

The Harrisburg, Pa., native was selected to the all-conference second team for the second straight year. Along with being named the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Proctor was recognized on the Big South All-Academic team for the second year in a row.

Proctor leads the Panthers and is third in the Big South with 19.3 points per game. The guard is also fourth in field goal percentage (.464), fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5), eighth in assists per game (3.3) and eighth in free throw percentage (.764).

Proctor has scored 20 or more points 16 times this season and has led HPU in scoring in 18 games. He has also recorded five or more assists eight times. He has 989 in two seasons in the Purple & White, 11 shy of 1,000.

A two-time Google Cloud Academic All-District selection, Proctor has a cumulative GPA of 3.79 and is majoring in sales.

The Panthers play in the Big South Tournament quarterfinals against Gardner-Webb on Thursday (March 7) in Buies Creek, N.C., at 8 p.m.
