• The Panthers dropped a 13-10 decision against Hofstra on Saturday
• Five Panthers had two goals each, led by sophomore Rachel Foster, who added three assists

SPARKS, Md. — The No. 25 High Point University women’s lacrosse team fell to Hofstra, 13-10, Saturday evening (March 16) at the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters’ Tierney Field in Sparks, Md.
After falling behind, 9-5, at halftime, the Panthers (4-4) cut the Pride (5-3) lead to three on three occasions and to two at 12-10, but that was as close as the game would get. Hofstra led in draw controls, 16-8, while High Point led in shots, 28-23, and ground balls, 20-12.
“Tonight was not our best showing, we got away from the game plan very early on and had to dig our way out of a hole the rest of the game,” HPU head coach Lyndsey Boswell. “Credit to Hofstra, they came to play and took advantage of all of our mistakes. One thing I know for sure, we have a group of fighters, and one bad loss won’t define us. We will get back home and get back on track.”
The Panthers had five players score twice, including senior Valerie Pelling, junior Ashley Britton and sophomores Rachel Foster, Abby Hormes and Kaely Kyle. Foster led HPU with five points, adding three assists to her pair of goals.
In goal, junior Jill Rall came off the bench and made four saves in the last 19:25 to keep the Panthers within striking distance.
Hofstra was led by Alyssa Parrella with eight points on six goals and two assists. Jess Smith made 10 saves in goal for the Pride.
In the first half, Hofstra scored seven of the first nine goals before HPU responded with three of the next four. The Pride scored with two seconds left in the half to bring the Hofstra lead to 9-5 at the break.
Up next, the Panthers host Towson on Wednesday (March 20). First draw at Vert Stadium is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
