Winston-Salem State Rams finish 2019 regular season with another 30-win year:Rams win 30, Nine times in 9 seasons/years

**********Today marked the 9th time in the nine year history of the program that 30 wins was reached (31-15). In 2015 (42-15) was the most wins in a season with the next best in 2017 at (39-19). The ’17 team reached the Atlantic Region finals. One game from the D2 College World Series.**********

ASHEBORO, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (30-15) had a tremendous performance at the plate when the team took a 20-6 win over the Claflin Panthers (23-14), Sunday afternoon. Playing at McCrary Park in nearby Asheboro, N.C., the Rams had one of their best scoring performances of the season en route to the win.

As a team ,the Rams had their best hitting game of the season. The team posted season highs in runs scored, hits, and tied the team high for home runs in a game. WSSU senior short stop Nick Williams led the way for the Rams when he went three-for-four at the plate with three runs scored and two RBI. Redshirt-senior Hunter Phillips had a terrific day with six RBI, including a grand slam home run.

The Rams got the game started with a steady start, but the team broke out late to claim the dominating win. After allowing the Panthers to take an opening inning run, the Rams answered with a first inning run of their own when redshirt-sophomore E.P. Reese added an RBI double. The team took the lead in the third inning when Phillips hit a grand slam home run to leave the Rams on top, 5-1. The Rams took a 6-2 lead in the fourth inning before breaking out for seven fifth inning runs and seven sixth inning runs to take a 20-5 lead. The team allowed one more seventh inning run to seal the WSSU win.

WSSU sophomore pitcher Jalen Scott (6-1) got the pitching win. He started the game and went five innings with three runs allowed (two earned) on eight hits with three strikeouts.
