3. Roberto Clemente…Died in the plane crash….
4. Dick Groat….Played hoops and baseball at Duke, and he played in the NBA, plus MLB for the Pirates…He also became the color commentator on Pitt Panthers basketball broadcasts and did up so until this season/2019….
5. Chuck Tanner….Came to the Pirates as their manager in a trade cooked up by Oakland A’s owner Charlie O. Finley and then Chuck Tanner led the ’79 Pirates to the World Series title, and the team theme came from the ‘Sister Sledge’ tune, “We Are Family”, and “Pops”/Willie Stargell was the leader of “The Family”, that was the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates…..
