  1. Would someone please explain to me the process for selecting the All-Area Baseball Team? My grandson, Edmund Kayhko, played for Greensboro Day School this past year. He batted .507 in the leadoff position and struck out 34 batters in 60 innings. His innings pitched were limited because he was coming off Tommy John surgery last year. His batting average is higher than anyone who was named to the All-Area Team, but he was only Honorable Mention. Are player’s statistics provided to whoever is voting? Is the voting process based upon who you know rather than what you did? Any comments would be appreciated!

  2. Contact Joe Sirera at the News and Record…He can break it down…

Sometimes the level of competition comes into play..

Greensboro Day’s baseball schedule is not as tough as most of the teams in the Guilford County Schools system…Now that is not the kid’s fault, but it does become a factor when you look at the teams and the level of competition each of the schools in the running for these All-Area Teams faces…

Just a thought…Look at the numbers you put up and look who you put them up against…

Again, just a thought, but maybe a factor…

I remember Eddie back when he was with Page and a solid young pitcher back in those days and I am sure the Tommy John’s surgery slowed him down some…

Very entertaining young man, Eddie Kayhko, and a solid young pitcher…I think he had a very good slow curve back in the early days and the first time batters would face him, they would be swinging like crazy and flying around all over the batter’s box…

  3. Way to go everyone. Where are all the guys griping about all conference earlier? These boys should be proud of their accomplishments. They deserve better than the comments made on here sometimes. Congrats to all of the Teams Players and Coaches in the area for a good year!! To learn how voting works for all-conference, all-area and all-state……ask someone who knows, instead of talking from your backside. Thanks Andy for a great HS year on Greensboro Sports!
