  1. I am going to need to get some looks at High Point Christian before I get the HPCA Cougars in here, but those looks will come as the season gets rolling….

    AD

  2. SE Guilford just got taken to the wood shed on Wed. night in Smithfield. Might not be a strong #2 in the rankings.

  3. Southeast should be ready to click and contend once they get settled at quarterback, but not sure how that transition is coming along………….

  4. @fblover what wood shed is it that you’re speaking of? QB play will be fine as the 6’5 kid is settling in and defensively SEG will remain strong. They played 4 scrimmages in a 2 hour span in very humid conditions. Speak about what you know about. SEG will still be a top team in the area and 3AA.

  5. The wood shed was Southern Nash. It was the same temp and humidity on their sidelines too. It was their last scrimmage of the night as well. Wilson Times newspaper stated that the SN backups were as impressive as the starters vs SE. Don’t believe SE scored in that scrimmage either.

  6. In the bigger picture, what about Southeast Guilford at Scotland County this coming Friday night???

And other thoughts on games like Northern Guilford at Grimsley and Eastern Guilford at Northeast Guilford, just to name a few…..

  7. And one more key thought, doesn’t Southern Nash have one of the top RB’s in the state? How did that kid look vs. SEG’s defense?

  8. Here is that news from the Wilson Times…

Playing among a 16-team field, the Southern Nash Firebirds certainly impressed as they played up to their usual standards in the team’s final scrimmage of the preseason. In fact, the Firebirds played with such efficiency in the last scrimmage of the night against Southeast Guilford under the bright lights of Charles T. Tucker Stadium that a number of coaches and players passing by on their way to the buses couldn’t help but stop and admire the way the Southern Nash played.

Starting with Raleigh Enloe, then continuing in competition against Cary Panther Creek, Fayetteville Cape Fear and finally against the Falcons of Southeast Guilford, Southern Nash scored early and often with both its starters and the second unit that came in for work. On several plays, senior quarterback Matt Foster escaped into space and gashed defenses down the sidelines. A talented cast of backs around him, including Quinton Cooley, also found open holes routinely and evaded the defense for long gains.

Also anybody got any word how the Dudley Panthers looked in their scrimmage down in Charlotte on Friday night???? Curious about how Dudley showed out down there in Charlotte…..

  9. Cooley is the back you are referring to, I believe he has several FCS schools offering with maybe Wake close to offering as well.
Teams will grow and get better during the season. I was just surprised how high you were on SEG. My question is that ranking how you feel the teams will end up in after the regular season or how they rank going into game one?

  10. Have not heard anything on Scotland county this summer but from having coached against them in the past, expect more of the same.

  11. The ranking is based on going into the regular season with heavy emphasis based on how the teams finished last season and what the teams are returning this season….The polls might be in for some drastic changes, we will have to wait and see how Week One goes, but based on how the teams finished up last year, and then with what they had coming back for this year, that is how the poll will roll for now…
