Once again the game plan is to throw the ball every down even though it’s obviously not working and there are two of the best running backs in the county on the team. People in the stands are frustrated that even though we have a new qb coach wants to throw throw throw. Just because it works for a while and looks good on paper this throw every down just doesn’t work. Especially when you have really good running backs. Frustrated!
What the hell happened to the Dudley Panthers?
Dudley’s defense was on the field all night and the offense never got cranking…
Dudley’s offense was never able to find its footing throughout the game. Dudley had only 66 yards of offense at halftime – 38 of those coming on a long pass from quarterback Jahmeir Slade to receiver Michael Wyman. Slade finished the game with 73 yards on 5-of-13 passing.
Dudley head coach Steven Davis:
Despite the 29-point loss in the season opener, Davis is not going to let his team dwell on it ahead of next week’s game against Jamestown Ragsdale.
“Like I just told them: ‘This game is over, I’m not going to beat you up about it, how you respond means a lot,” Davis said.
Here’s what was working for West Forsyth:
The combination of running backs G’Mone Wilson and Zy Dillard made West Forsyth’s offense go against the Dudley Panthers. The pair combined for more than 200 yards rushing and five touchdowns – four of them coming from Wilson – to lead the Titans to a 42-13 victory in the season opener.
Dillard was the game’s leading rusher with 108 yards on 21 carries while Wilson finished the game with 97 yards rushing on 26 carries.

To all the concern Nighthawk Parents out there yes it was a tough start to the season and yes no ideal situation playing a game across 2 days in crappy weather. You weren’t the only ones in town that got punched in the mouth.
Before you go bashing and hanging the coaches in effigy, look at what was done the other two nights. Stats per the NR showed that the young QB was 18-24 for 116yds. (BTW over the last 2 years I believe they averaged 35+ pass attempts per game.) Yes he had two INTs one on what looked to be a Great opening drive but inexperience got the better of him. I am sure the coaches will correct as he gains experience. Now for all those who think NG throws throws throws, they rushed the ball 27 times, not with great success but if my NEW math is correct that means they ran the ball more than the pass happy Nighthawks threw the ball. Not real sure who they want to lean on for most of the workload but from what I saw #3, #45, and #25 should be getting most of the carries. There was another Back # escapes me but he seemed a little tentative hitting the holes. When you play a Defense like Grimsley’s you can’t do that. You will get lit up.
And let’s give Grimsley some credit, they are a good team from top to bottom. They won the game in all aspects after the first drive. Won Penatly game, won turnover game, won run game, won weather game.
NG will be fine bump in the road. Turn the firggin page, the kids have. On to week 2.
