  1. Someone must not be turning in Jordan Williams numbers. I know that his numbers are better than some of these QBs

  2. Good afternoon Andy! I have been a sports fan of Guilford County sports for over fifty years. Can you answer me a a question ? Why are the Greensboro College Pride so bad for the last few years? I attend almost every home game of theirs and I almost feel like
Not going on Saturdays this autumn. Thanks! Great blog by the way.

  3. Ferrum(0-0) vs. Greensboro College(1-0) on Saturday…
    (Jamieson Stadium)

I might try and catch some of the first half of that game, or maybe slip in for parts of the second half, just to get a feel of how Greensboro College is looking..

When Greensboro College had Marion Kirby as their coach, they did experience some success, but after Coach Kirby stepped away, the program began to go downhill, and never recovered…

For all the strides Greensboro College made in football while Coach Marion Kirby was there, after he was gone, the program went back down below ground zero…

Need to invest in a coach like Kirby again…They had Eric Westberg(now at Northern Guilford HS) in there as an interim coach for a few months, a few years back, but they may need to bring in a coach like him again, someone who is young and can connect with the players and still somebody with enough knowledge of the game to make it work and at least run .500 football…

If you are not running .500 football on the college level, you are just fielding a team…

Then the problem becomes if you get the program to .500 and keep it there for a few years on the college level, another school will come looking to snap you up and bring you in to coach their team….

.500 football at Greensboro College would be a HUGE step in the right direction….Guilford also needs to be at least at .500 each season and N.C. A&T has had no trouble staying at .500 or better the past several seasons….

You will also have to find a way to make the Greensboro job more appealing than say a high school coaching job, otherwise, the high school coaches will be staying where they are and will not be seeking out the college jobs and for them/the high school coaches to be seeking the college head jobs, most of them would have had some experience on the college level, coaching as an assistant coach…

If there is a younger version of Coach Kirby out there as a clone of Kirby, Greensboro College needs to go get him/snap him up..

I hope to be there for some of their game on Saturday, either first half, or second half action….

  4. SE must have a stat reporting and keeping issue as Eagles feel like Smith has. McQuitty had a 250+ rushing night against Northwest and a 100yd effort against Webb

  5. Yes, we had to go with the N&R quicktake numbers on McGuitty and add them to his MaxPrep numbers from his first two games…Not all that official on him, but we had to grab the Quicktake and put it with previous numbers and sometimes with the Quicktake they give you he had over 100 yards in the first alone and that is all that you get and you can look at the box score and hope to get how many TD’s they scored…

Not a perfect formula but it gives you something to work with/chew on…

Would be nice if all of the teams got on board the MaxPreps Train and had those numbers updated by each Tuesday, after the Friday night games….

  6. @andy Durham
@hopping Luke. It’s the coach. He’s horrible. They can’t do anything on offense defense stinks

  7. Sad to see page falling through the cracks this year. There obviously isn’t an abundance of talent this year compared to years past but you still would expect them to fit the scheme to the players better. Also seems like players are leaving page to play at other schools. Who is to blame?

  8. Jimmy, no question a tough start for Page. Not going to get easier with their non conference schedule. Page graduate around 25 seniors last year and some really good talent. They still have talent, it is just young and inexperienced. As for the transfers…one family moved to Charlotte, one player moved because his dad is AD at another school, one player transferred to his 3 high school in 4 years and I really don’t know about the last transfer. Page will have a tough year but they will get better over time.

  9. There is one particular former Pride football player in the area, whom is a coordinator locally, whom many of the alumni would love to see patrolling the sideline at GC…

  10. I bet this Greensboro College alum is a DC/Defensive Coordinator whose name initials might just also be, DC…

Not sure, but I have made a good guess….
