Game Report on Northwest Guilford-Eastern Guilford Boys Basketball:NWG Vikings grab big lead and then hang on to top Eastern Guilford Wildcats

NORTHWEST GUILFORD 62, EASTERN GUILFORD 60
GAME NOTES:
–Northwest Guilford played their opening home game against Eastern Guilford tonight. The Vikings took the early lead in the first quarter 14-10.

In the second quarter the Vikings went on a little run and went into the half up 38-26 from some three-point shooting.

The Vikings came out strong in the third quarter and outscored Eastern 15-7 in the third improving their lead to 53-33 overall.

The fourth quarter got very interesting… Eastern clamped down defensively forcing 10 turnovers. The Vikings only made one field goal in the fourth quarter… However, the Vikings ultimately pulled it out and won 62-60.

— Chris Hampton led the Vikings with 21 points. Dean Reiber had 14 points, 7 rebounds and 3 big blocks. Robbie Boulton added 12 points and was a defensive specialist in this one nabbing 8 rebounds, 1 block, deflecting 7 passes and stealing the ball 7 times. Brandon Thomas and Connor Ballou had 6 points each, while Shaq Marsh added 3 points in the win for the Vikings.
