BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Greensboro College women’s basketball team could not overcome a slow start as they fell to the Knights of Southern Virginia University Saturday 69-49.

In the first period, Greensboro struggled from the field as they only connected on three of their 13 shots and went into the second period trailing 21-7. Over the next 10 minutes, Greensboro trailed by as many as 20 points before pulling to within 34-17 at the break after Shaiajah Dailey hit a pair of free throws with nine second remaining in the half.

Following halftime, the Greensboro offense began to come alive. With the Knights holding on to a 41-22 lead with 7:51 showing on the third period clock, Greensboro closed out the period on a 18-6 run to pull within seven heading into the final 10 minutes. Katie Lewis(Southeast Guilford High School) fueled the run with a pair of three pointers to go along with two free throws, while Sabria Joseph chipped in six points after hitting each of her three shots that she took from the field.

Despite having the momentum on their side heading into the final period, Greensboro was unable to get any closer as they fell by the 20-point margin.

Lewis finished the game with a team-leading 17 points, while Joseph, who had a team-high six rebounds, also finished in double figures with 11 points. Shai Robinson also hauled in 10 boards and Dailey passed for five assists.
