Forbush raced out to an early 11-1 advantage & never were challenged in beating East Forsyth 79-56 in East Bend Tuesday night. The home-standing Falcons, now 2-2, shot 56% from the field, including 28-47 from inside the arc, to deal the visitors a resounding defeat in their opening game of the 2019-20 season.

East Forsyth entered the game minus two-thirds of its varsity roster as the football Eagles prepare to defend their North Carolina 4A championship Saturday in Chapel Hill against Raleigh’s Cardinal Gibbons. Despite the short roster, the Eagles battled early, closing their deficit to 16-10 just before the end of the first quarter.

But Forbush stretched it’s lead to 15 points (40-25) by halftime & led by as many as 28 in the second half behind a balanced attack that featured four players in double figures. Caleb Boles led the Falcons of the Western Piedmont Conference with 19 points & Samuel Crews added 18 points & 9 rebounds.

East’s Brion Jones led all scorers with 20 points & grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Will Rhodes added 19 for the Eagles, who return to the court next Tuesday night at Ragsdale, then play their home opener in Kernersville on Wednesday against Mount Tabor.
