Mount Tabor won its eighth straight game in dominant fashion, defeating East Forsyth 72-45 in Jack Musten Gymnasium in Kernersville Wednesday night. The Spartans trailed early, led by only seven points at the half but finally broke the game open with an explosive final five minutes.

The Eagles trailed 53-41 when Ty Lyles fouled out with 3:57 left in the game but Mount Tabor scored 19 of the last 23 points to open up it’s biggest lead (27) at the finish. It was the second dominant stretch of the game for the Spartans, who reversed East’s 17-14 lead early in the second quarter by scoring 16 of the next 18 points with intense pressure over the next five minutes & take the lead for good.

Jakob Moore led the winners’ balanced attack with 17 points and Daniel Fula added 13 points and 14 rebounds for the taller Spartans, who outrebounded East by 18. Jashaun Torrence added 11 while Will Rhodes led the Eagles, now 0-3, with 17 points. East returns to the court at Parkland while Mount Tabor, the top-seeded team in NC 3A, hosts R.J. Reynolds on Friday night.
