Unbeaten Parkland got off to a blazing start, hitting 8 of its first 10 shots — including 5 of 6 three-pointers– and never looked back, defeating visiting East Forsyth 86-45 in non-conference action on Friday night in Winston-Salem.

The Mustangs scored just under their seasons pre-game average and continued to build to their largest lead at the end behind a cumulative 61 points from Denoris Wardlow, Omar Bolden & Camien Shell. Parkland hit nine of 21 3s for the game but was better inside the arc, shooting 64% (23-36) as it raced to its fifth straight win of the 2019-20 season.

East had three players in double figures, led by Jalen Thorns’ 12 points. The Eagles are now off for the Christmas break before returning to the court on December 26 in the opening round of the Frank Spencer Holiday Classic, playing third-seeded Winston-Salem Prep in the final of four first-day games at 5 pm at R.J. Reynolds HS. Fourth-seeded Parkland opens its Spencer action at 1 pm against fifth-seeded West Stokes at RJR.
